June 24- More than Two Sides
There are always two sides to a story, likewise there are multiple opinions for every single issue, debate, ideologies and the likes. To fight for your personal opinion is fine, even commendable but respecting the other person’s opinion is the mark of a true literate. A debate or an argument is similar to the sport of fencing . You should remember, you are fighting against each other’s weapons, i.e. opinions, not against each other. There should not be any personal attacks. And, like in fencing , your goal is to score not to kill. The goal of any argument should be to make the other person understand your opinion. You should not disagree just for the sake of argument. According to Indian Mythology, there exists a bird called Hamsa, that can separate Water and Milk from a mixture of the two. Similarly, we, as a highly intelligent and developed life form, should think, analyze and then select our opinion from the mix of others after going through the multiple sides of the issue.
