INHUMANKIND
April 12, 2018
We (humans) have become the opposite of the word with
which we are collectively called, Humankind. Our actions or inactions
prove it. We have come to the point where we may be the curse that wipes out
the final living organism of the entire planet.
Acres of land have
been taken up for real estate; sawing down of trees, deforestation, global
warming, ozone depletion, naming only some of the symptoms of the disease known
as Mankind.
The problem with us (humans) is that we do not realize that every thing we do
to earth, comes back to us. Taking up of lands leads to loss of agriculture,
cutting down of trees lead to less rainfall, lesser rainfall leads to global
warming, global warming leads to ozone depletion and many other problems.
We have nearly
destroyed half the resources of the earth, but our recent feather in the crown
is the extinction of a sub-species of white rhinoceros known as northern white
rhinoceros. Sudan, the last living male northern white rhino died this March.
On the day that it died, an article read, “These rhinos withstood many
difficulties, but could not survive mankind”. This
tells the extent of the damage we have done to the creatures and the planet
itself. Depleting a resource is one thing but hunting down an entire
sub-species is completely another thing. It is INHUMANE.
Every living
creature has a right to live on the planet just as we humans do. All the
creatures should live in harmony rather than one group being dominated by the
other. Human beings were not sent to the earth to rule over other creatures but
are mere result of the evolution process.
It is already late
but not too late to change our ways. We have to start loving nature the way it
loves us. We need to realize that earth is where we live and destroying it
means destroying us. It would be great if people valued other people with in
terms of number of trees planted instead of number of houses/apartments owned.
There are people
who try to conserve nature and make other people understand about the importance
of it, but they don’t see any fruit at the end of the road. Not many support
them nor understand them. We should stop hoping and start doing something for a
better tomorrow.
SAVE NATURE!
SAVE LIVES!
