Corona Post
March 25, 2020
These are troubled times
with the number of positive cases for COVID19 increasing rapidly by the hour.
There is so much out there on the internet and the media about the virus, so
much so that it is nauseating; so we don’t want to burden you with even more
information and opinions. The one thing we wanted to stress is the necessity
for scientific temper in times like
this.
From sun rays spreading
corona to vibrations curing the virus to sitting in a crowd and protesting are
all testament that we as a nation lack scientific temper. It is necessary that
we use our common sense, which is not very difficult, and not believe
everything we read or listen to on the internet. In times of emergency like
this, we should be even more vigil about misinformation and disinformation and
refer to official websites and credible mediahouses rather than WhatsApp
forwards and random YouTube videos.
Homeopathy is not real
science, it tries to be but it isn’t. Ayurveda is science but does not have the
wherewithal to study the virus closely in order to treat it. So, it is
absolutely necessary that we follow what the doctors say, in order to deal with
this microbe. It is ironic how a small microorganism is able to stop the
largest civilization the planet has ever seen; but what is life but irony. It
is important that we build a common consciousness as a nation in order to
tackle the virus effectively and it should be based on rational thinking and
common sense. One should be able to call out misinformation when they hear it,
not to the whole world, but within the family will suffice.
We are living history. We
are going to get out of this mess, mostly battered, but we will; and it is
really important that we behave responsibly, worthy of a pat on the back which
we are going to give ourselves at the end of this tunnel. Being responsible in
this context is plain simple: stay home and don’t spread misinformation.
It takes around 21 days of
complete shut off for a caterpillar to open her wings and fly; fly the sky, it
will, with happiness and freedom to find her nectar. Think of it as our pupal
phase when we grow our own selves at the same time give nature a much needed
breathing space. We will too come out of our houses but before that we have to
stay shut off, inside our houses to reduce transmission thereby flatten the
curve.
